Post #3- Practice videos from semester 1

Throughout the first semester my partners and I worked on a total of 4 films. Two were made in each quarter. For the first quarter we worked on a film that we introduced camera angles, and another film where we revolved it around sound effects. Then in the second quarter we created a radon awareness video, and a film where we built a gingerbread house.

Throughout the 4 films done in the first semester I was involved in multiple roles including, actor, camera operator, director, and editor. Each and every film had there own successes and challenges. For example in quarter one where me and my partner worked on creating our first film ever, we went threw a lot of challenges. We didn't really know where to start, how to edit, neither what to include. The purpose of the first video was to get used to using different types of camera angles, finding which angle to use for which part of the scene was a bit challenging but we were able to include at least 4 camera angles. The next film we worked on was a short skit where we had to introduce sound effects. Editing is not my most talented area, I struggled on how to piece the film together but my partner and I worked together in order to achieve a decent film. It was only the second film we have done, we improved on camera angles but still had a lot of techniques to learn and use. As quarter one ended we reflected on what we could improve on and bring to second quarter . The second quarter we learned and gained many new skills, when it was time to start on our radon awareness film I was more confident and prepared. This film was a group project, where we had to have 3-4 people in our group. My group had 4 including myself, and we did not disappoint. Ms. Hall allowed us to come up with our own idea of spreading awareness of radon, this is where we had to think outside the box, but also hook in the audience. Our final radon video consisted of a actor walking past a flyer that mentioned that radon was spreading around and how dangerous it is. This is where a "guy" comes into the film, the audience is not shown who this person may be but only get to see where the guy is introducing the risks of radon. Later into the film, the audience gets the big plot twist. The "mystery" person was actually radon! This created a composure of suspense and also brought in some laughs. The most recent film I have produced was with the same group, we had to revolve our film around us building a gingerbread house. Our slogan was named "Bake it Happen". the film was made  like a tutorial on how to build a gingerbread house, we included tips, and steps on how to make it and made sure to add jolly music for the Christmas season. From the beginning of the year to now, I have improved in many areas and have acquired new insights.

As semester 1 is over, and were starting semester 2, I am very intrigued to see what else there is to learn and improve on. I am looking forward to start working on my 2- minute opening credits video , and I am planning to show off and include all the skills I have gained.
