Post #12- Day one of recording/ Rough Cut 1

Image
Hello! Welcome back to blog post 12. Today I am going to be talking about the first day of filming, and rough cut 1. Enjoy. Yesterday was our First day of filming as a group. It was a long afternoon. The weather was really nice. It was sunny but gloomy at the same time. So not to hot! We all agreed to arrive at 4:30, although some of us did arrive late. By 5 we were all at baker park, and we were ready to film. A week prior do this day the others in my group went tot baker park to locate the spots they think were best for our film. Unfortunately I couldn't make it that day. Below you will see pictures around the park, to help you get an idea. After everyone arrived on our first group film day we started off by walking to our first location for our first clip. Emily brought a light ring, to help get more of those bright shots. We had to redo many of the recordings over and over again, either someone messed up, laughed, or got out of character. It was frustrating to get some of the c...

Image
Hello everyone! Today I am going to be talking about color symbolism.  Use of color is  to symbolize a character's true intentions or to elicit emotions from an audience is well-known and used in the film and writing worlds.  As you may know, our film is now starting off with a sunny day, during the first days of summer break. A group of 4 friends are excited to start off their summer break. These first scenes are appealing to bright colors. We are talking like pink, bright orange, yellow, etc. As typically these colors are used to indicate a emotion of happiness. As the film continues, the colors of the film move more into dark colors. Like black, grey, brown, etc. These dark colors contribute to the emotion of scary, creepy, and alarming.  Color symbolism is a great tool to add more details into a film. The colors you used throughout a film help demonstrate the audience the type of emotions you are trying to give off. I hope you pay attention to these color ...

Image
Welcome back!  Today we continue to gather more ideas about our film by creating a story board and story script. My group and I discussed it and we agreed on to make a storyboard first.    Creating a storyboard for a film helps to keep the process organized and helps the crew and cast with knowing what props are needed, what camera angles to use, what the sequence of shots/scenes are, etc.  We need to imagine big and scribble away on the paper. Me and Kevin were mostly in charge of creating the storyboard, but our other two members did also contribute. One more then the other. We got to share in ideas, have a bigger image of our film, and really make sure to include all the tiny details. I contributed by drawing a couple of the images, while Kevin did the other. We used a normal size piece of blank paper, and with a ruler split the paper into equal sized boxes.  First we started off by drawing the first scene, we aren't artists so it did take some time to create...

Image
Welcome back ! This is very unexpectedly, but after a huge discussion my group and I have decided to change out film idea. You may ask why? Well, I was thinking about our film and it didn't really have me hooked in. I wanted a film where teenage kids can somewhat relate, or be excited to watch. That when i came up with a great idea! After sharing it with my group, we realized that our original idea wasn't as exciting as we have hoped. That when we all agreed to switch ideas. First, instead of a action thrilled film, we are moving more into a horror genre. This including a film where 4 teenage students are finally entering there summer break. Excited to hangout, they are at the park talking about there summer plans. Plans that never got to be completed. In order to understand what I am talking about, you need to watch the film! This is a huge change, but we believe it for the better. For the location we are using a park named "Baker Park", it around 20 minutes awa...

Image
Hello everyone last week we watched a clip from a film called "The killers eve". I can speak for a lot of my classmates and myself that this film really opened our eyes.   I wasn't here in class when we watched the film, so I had to watch it in my own time. This  film introduced us to many camera angles including low angle, high angle, POV shot, etc. The film went on really smooth with many skills built into it. For example, sound effects, editing, and camera shots. These are key in order to produce a high quality film. Killing eve is a British spy thriller television series produced in the United kingdom. The editing added that extra spice to the film, it created a more hooked in intro to have the audience on their edge of the seats . This film is usually not the type of film I would watch on my own time, but It was nice getting to see a different side of films. This film gave me and my group a couple of ideas that we might want to include in our film.  I hope...

Image
Welcome back, today in class we toke a look at two different types of parts of the popular movie that had all the girls on there edge of the seat, Barbie. The first part was the trailer, and the second part was the opening  sequence .  At first I didn't know the difference of a title sequence, and a trailer but after watching both parts next to each other I got a glimpse of what each part of the film really has to offer. For example The purpose of a opening title sequence is to establish the tone, setting, and characters of the audience. It also may introduce the production team and cast members. Barbie opening sequence started off with a glimpse of a warm toned dessert valley where a few young girls dressed in old fashioned clothes were recking there old baby dolls. This is where the audience, including myself was a bit confused. I mean where all the pink?  Barbie is known for it's outstanding amount of dolls, and fashion taste. Not to long later, the "main" Barbie p...

Image
As you may have read from my last post, we are now gathering ideas and are brainstorming to figure out where our films direction is going. First, we choose out roles for everyone as a group, to make sure everyone is included, and have there part into producing this exciting film.  For actors we have Emily T, Kevin H, Obed J, and Kimberly D (myself), for camera operator we have all of us once again, Director is Obed J, and Kevin H, for editor Kevin H, for storyboard artist Kevin H, for screen writer Emily T, Obed J, and producer Kevin H, and Kimberly D. Now that we have our jobs settled down it time to figure out what our film is really going to be about. Like I said in the last film we want something to do with wrestling, and subverting stereotypes. We are thinking of all going to a gym place near us, where wrestling classes take place. This is where Kevin and Obed go, and after they talked to there coach, he agreed to let us film for a couple of days.  I think this real...

Image
After a brief discussion, research, and planning my group and I decided to go with action-packed, excitement, thrilled filled film. It toke a lot of deciding, but we finally got it settled down. Some conventions that are typically used in a action based film are a heroic protagonist, a villain, ticking clock, disturbed setting, multiple life's that are on stake, chase sequences, stunt work, etc. These are just a few out of the multiple conventions that are usually seen in a everyday action film. My group and I have decided that we want to uphold these conventions, but also subvert them. We want to subvert conventions in the film we are going to produce because it challenges audience expectations, which keeps the audience hooked in since it not what they are usually used to. It also creates surprise, encourages critical thinking, and allows for fresh perspectives. Going against conventions that our audience are expecting leads to a more engaging and unique viewing experience by pus...
